Our founder, Bert Massie, PhD, invented the first wide-angle, hand-held pediatric retinal imaging camera. After 20 years, without the constraints of the legacy design, he did it again. Using completely reinvented optics he created the Phoenix ICON camera from the ground up for today’s exacting clinicians.
<2 months of age

Darkly pigmented retina
19 year-old patient
Reinvented optics. Single objective lens. Interchangeable light modules. Stunning images.
Bring patented hand-held, wide-angle retinal imaging to your patients anywhere – from operating room to community hospital to clinic and everywhere in between.
Same Patient. Same Eye.
We made it simple. Snap the blue light LED module into the hand piece and flip the integrated switch for the barrier filter. You’re ready to capture stunning fluorescein angiograms bedside.
We made the experience more comfortable for the patient by reducing injected light levels. What’s more, the Phoenix ICON™ blue light intensity is significantly lower than legacy systems.
The hand piece works in two system formats
Available in a cart-format for the operating room and high volume imaging.
And an easily portable system for remote screening and portability on a large campus. Or get both with a single hand piece for lowest total cost of ownership.
Complete imaging sessions on your schedule by imaging on battery – unplugged – for up to 6 hours.
Move the light-weight ICON cart easily from bed to bed using only fingertip pressure.
Use the motor-driven height adjustments to image in both seated and standing positions…
for optimal viewing of the high definition touchscreen.
Phoenix ICONTM GO
Control box and hand piece pack nicely into a durable, easy-to-roll hard case.
The laptop slides neatly into a separate backpack (included in your purchase) for easier portability.
Both are designed to be easily cleaned to improve infection control when moving the device between sites.
The control box rests securely in the top layer of the hard case.
The hand piece, foot pedal and accessories fit snugly in the lower layer, which is designed with custom cut-outs for the components.
* Not yet available in the U.S.
The hand piece holster arm pivots and locks in place. The holster snaps securely to the arm, presenting a convenient resting place for the hand piece during imaging.
There are two batteries for extended imaging time.
Driven by Powerful Software
Easily capture still images, video, and FlashBack video. Review and export with ease.
Meet healthcare security requirements with a security hardened version of Windows 10, encryption of data at rest, user roles, strong passwords, and audit logging.
Intuitive user interface
Acquire, review, export
A robust DICOM integration with the hospital and clinic workflow gives you piece of mind by eliminating data entry on the camera and allowing you to save images to the PACS. No more thumb drives.
Infection Control Made Easy
Today, it’s not just about capturing stunning images. It’s HOW you do them in a safe and hygienic way.
A hand piece holster with a built-in soaking cup makes patient-to-patient disinfection easy. The hand piece soak timer built into the software creates an infection control audit log for all camera cleaning events.
“We have extensively used the ICON in the NICU and during EUAs and have obtained outstanding image quality as compared to legacy systems”
